Félix Lajkó Wednesday, oct 13, 7:30 pm, Music Academy (VI. Liszt Ferenc tér 8, 341-4788, M1 Oktogon, Tickets Ft 1,800 – Ft 2,200)
When mostly self-taught Vojvodinian violinist Félix Lajkó played at the Music Academy's great concert hall last year, it was little short of miraculous. The large crowd of both diehard fans and recent converts sure thought so, and the 24-year-old gave his usual stunning performance.
You haven't missed anything if you weren't there: the concert was recorded and released on CD (as Live at Academy), and now Lajkó is playing Budapest's most prestigious music veneue again. It's a must for fans of improvised ethno music, but followers of jazz and even classicalmusic may enjoy it, too. Lajkó's far too much a free spirit to be pigeonholed into any one of these groups. But the experience of the unbelievable energy with which he plays usually convinces everyone listening of that. Give yourself a treat and go see for yourself.
